ASIA Families (ASIA), which provides programs and services for Korean adoptees and American adoptive parents, received 11,100 masks from Korea's Overseas Koreans Foundation (Chairman Han Woo-sung).
ASIA’s President Song Hwa-gang and advisor Kim Chan-soo received masks, sent from South Korea, from the consulate general Kwon Se-jung on the 12th.
On the carefully packaged box, the sticker “Stay Safe Always.” was attached to convey the warm feelings of the Korean government and the people toward Korean adoptees.
Consul General Kwon Se-joong, who was appointed in March, said, “I am happy to be able to provide masks with the warm heart of the Korean government to adoptee families. The current situation is difficult, but I hope everyone can work hard together and overcome the crisis by becoming a vaccine for each other."
President Song Hwa-gang said, “I am happy and grateful to receive the masks when it is needed most. Adoptees are also very impressed and grateful that their mother country remembered them.”
ASIA plans to mail 50 masks each to 220 families with Korean adoptees. Shin Won-sil, who lives in Maryland, donated $300 to help pay for the postage.
Founded in 2009, ASIA promotes Korean culture to adoptees and their families and raises their identity by conducting educational programs such as ‘Korean Culture School’ for adoptee families, Korea tour, and Camp Rice.
