Shelley D. Hutchins is a journalist, writer, editor, and web producer who covers health care, sustainable building, performing arts, and travel. She’s currently the senior digital content manager for the newsmagazine of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association and a regularly contributing writer to Custom Builder magazine. Since 2021, she’s also served as Communication Coordinator for ASIA.
Shelley and husband James adopted August Jae Kyun in 2004 and have participated in many of the meaningful ASIA Families’ programs for the past 15 years. August has performed at several fundraising events for the organization and its incredible founder, Grace, and is a counselor at Camp Rice.
“We are all grateful for the close community, many lifelong friends, and unconditional support we’ve enjoyed as part of ASIA Families over the years and look forward to many more.”
Shelley enjoys traveling with her family, planning travel for friends and family, being part of a 20-year-long book club, swimming, attending live performances of all genres, not entirely successful attempts at gardening, and is an ardent foodie. She lives in downtown Silver Spring where you can often find her sipping a latte at one of the many local coffee shops or eating one of Beth’s delicious spicy kitfo paninis at Lemon Slice Café.
