ASIA Families' 2021 Giving Campaign
The following fundraising appeal letter was written by Board Chair, Joseph Brzostowski.
Happy New Year Friends of Asia Families!
Friday, February 12th is the Lunar New Year—this important date also marks the deadline for ASIA Families’ 2021 Giving Campaign!
We hope to raise $10,000 this year and need your help.
Your contribution will go toward operational costs and needed Korean Culture School and Camp Rice supplies to support the programs run by our volunteer staff who freely give their time to teach and inspire our children, teens, and adult adoptees.
Will you please join us by making a donation today to ASIA Families?
The pandemic disrupted all of our lives in numerous ways we couldn’t have imagined. Like many non-profit organizations, ASIA Families fell significantly short of our fiscal needs last year because of in-person program cancellations—including culture school, Camp Rice, and the Korea Bridge Tour—as well as temporary suspension of grants.
This loss of income occurred while the cost to run the organization remained the same.
However, I am proud to say our excellent volunteer staff, dedicated board members, and tireless executive director Grace Song, worked hard to provide enriching online programs at low or no cost to our community. You or your children might have attended virtual Korean Culture School, Parent Café, Virtual Teen Camp, or the Adult Adoptee Listening Session.
2021 Highlights
Both the spring Korean Culture School and Camp Rice will take place online as our country continues to navigate this pandemic. But we hope to see you all in person this fall for culture school.
As another 2020 high note, ASIA Families expanded its Board of Directors with eight energetic people bringing a wide range of skills. They’re collective experience includes law, business management, community and social service, and board service with other nonprofits. Our board consists of parents, members of the Korean and Korean American community, and our invaluable adult Korean adoptees.
Take a peek at our profiles on the ASIA Families website to learn more about us. And please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to share your talents and time.
Every single member—new or existing—of our amazing board will contribute this campaign.
I had the privilege of meeting most of our nearly 40 volunteers in January and enjoyed seeing many familiar faces along with numerous new ones—including some joining us online from Korea, Thailand, and different places across the USA! In addition, we plan to offer additional fun programming so please stay tuned.
I hope with all my heart that our lives will return to something similar to what we all knew pre-pandemic. The trek to normal may still take time but walking together in the ASIA Families community will only make the journey enriching, filled with love and support.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and I hope to see you soon.
With warm regards,
Joseph Brzostowski
